Should I Always Update ElvUI Immediately?

Whenever Blizzard releases a major patch, I notice that developers also recommend players Update ElvUI as soon as possible. Is it generally safe to install updates immediately, or do you usually wait a few days until other users confirm everything is working properly? I don’t want to lose my custom layouts or profiles because of an unexpected compatibility issue. What update strategy has worked best for you over the years?
